For instance here in this picture is Union Station, which is the only place in KC I have been. Trang was voted the cleanest city in Thailand but I think it's Si Racha. Nevertheless, it is clean, and has a nice southern vibe. I caught the Vegatarian Festival here. The chicken curry at the backbackers hostel is amazing.

Casey and I broke a gas pump here and it was a messy expensive time. I told him to not smoke at the gas pump and he argued with me, "It's never a problem Bri." Had I not convinced him to put it out before we pumped, we would have fried here. It was pretty damn funny. The nozzle broke and away went the streams of fuel. I couldn't stop it. We ate breakfast here and the staff of this small resturant was mean. So, when I think Salt Lake City I think~Mean People with Shitty Gas Pumps.

PHUKET, THAILAND

Phuket is cool. People say it's not because there are so many tourists there. Why are they all there? Because it's cool. Beautiful beaches and western style living, if it's your thing then it's your thing. Ryan and I came to get digital video tapes and see the tsunami wreckage.

This is one of those secret mountian towns where all the hippies are hanging out growing beards and drinking coffee. It's more relaxed than a Phish concert up here. Hang out on the river in the hills and spend a dollar a night on your bungalow built on stilts. It gets a little chilly at night but dude, we got loads of blankets. The only thing you drive in this town is a bicycle. Bebop is one of the best jazz clubs I have been to, odd place to find one. It's all pretty ideal.

New Orleans has more culture than any other US city and you can easily feel that when you are there. I also think it's haunted. I turned 21 here at the climax of Mardi Gras and ate lobster and steak with my best friend on Burbon Street. Does it get any better? The answer is no, it does not. If I had all the money in the world I wouldn't change this life. The jazz, the po-boys, the gumbo, the parades...I love you New Orleans, clean up fast.

My favorite Thai island. Spent a good month here in three trips to. The full moon party at Had Rin is famous, and of course that was taken care of (Refer to Travel Writing Section) but the better party is in the jungle on the half moon. It really goes off up in there. It's a pretty island, still peaceful and not to developed. Everyone that visits feels like it's their little secret, and it is~this tiny landmass in the Gulf of Thailand.

This mountian range is magnificent. I climbed Guadalupe mountian on the 2003 trip Colleen and I took. The thing you need to understand about Colleen is she is lazy. Just a complete bum. She sat at the bottom all afternoon while I navigated to the top.

KANCHANABURI, THAILAND

This is the spot of the famous DEATH RAILWAY, the Thai Burma link where so many POW's died on the River Kwai. Aside from the dark history the landscape is lush and the railroad dare I say a fun ride. After visiting the museum I can say I would rather it had not been built. Kanchanaburi on the whole is a good trip, getting close to the Burma border, there are some interesting Thai and Chinese temples, local food, and gems.

Everyone should be talking about this place. It should be all the rage. Families saving up their yearly dispensable income to travel to southern Texas. It is so far been the better experience between the other NP's I have visited. It's pretty much the Mexican border and a hard road, If you get lost or stuck in this backcountry you have problems. I will warn you about Old Maverick Road right now.

WATKINS GLENN, NEW YORK

This is a good mini road trip from Buffalo. It was one of my first in 1997, with Tonya, Erin, and Dave Krutter. It's a winding path up with many waterfalls and spectacular views in between.

Since I have been to this Japanese airport four times I thought I might include it here. The toliets and bathrooms are quite nice. When Ryan and I flew in the first time the sun was setting a hard red over Japan and it became the first glimpse of Asia. I like getting the window seat and having a look at Tokyo.

The city of temples and trekking. Ryan and I spent a week here in February 2005. The most remarkable memory I have is climbing the mountian to Doi Wat Suthep where you can look out of the city and ring bells. A guy named Mike makes good burgers in Chang Mai and the city is outlined with a mote and large gate.

Carlsbad is erie and facinating. The odd thing is that I don't really like caves all that much, but somehow have ended up at about a half dozen formations, including the two major ones, Carlsbad and Mammoth. Carlsbad is better than all the others put together, the stalagtites and stalagmites look like monsters and the system is vast. This visit was very much enjoyed.

This is college town territory, Cornell at the top of the hill. Colleen and I had a road trip here to visit some Moosewood place for dinner, and honestly I wasn't that impressed. If the world was a highway Bangkok would be one the last stops. It is insane. The 10 million people, the pollution, the sex trade, the nighlife, the markets, and the pure intensity.

There are guys that moved here because they faked their death or killed someone. It is very different here. It can be invigorating or maddening. It can be beautiful or ugly.

The slums could break your heart. The modern downtown district stands in contrast to the traditional culture.

You need to take more showers living here, and have headaches more frequently.

Bangkok will bring out the best or worst in you.

It was my city, my home~in 2005.

Colleen and I and Austin. The highlight maybe of The Great Texas Exploration of 2003. This is easily the coolest Texas city. Great music and nightlife, modern and liberal, and the capital of Texas. Austin has it right with free modern transportation (The Dillo) and nice locals.

For the record, I don't know if Ryan and I ever made it into the city togther. We were definetly in Mexico on foot in greater Tijuana. I think we were so crooked and full with Corona at the first border bar we never caught the cab downtown. It didn't matter, it was a night of expansion and experiementation. I remember the poor kids with the chiclets and the dirt. The gritty night life and the scene at the border trying to cross in by foot. It really was a night to remember.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers ended things out in their home state on the last night, and we all cramed back in Rob's truck and drove back to Phoenix.

Jen was a waitress and John was a man to make amends with, last name:Amendala. Squaw peak and medicine cabinets. The ice house, the ska punk hour Sundays on the Edge. We had two TV's, one for stuff and the other a CNN TV. It was smaller and more important. 911 happened and we were on the couch. We left for Utah and California and Mexico and all that. Phoenix.

Madison is a cool town. It's a college town, and although I only drove through I wreckin I like it more than Chicago. If I had to live in one or the other it would be Madison. Also, it is odd in that it's a liberal city in the midwest.

MACKINAC STRAIGHTS, MICHIGAN

This bridge connects lower and upper Michigan and is in many ways, more impressive than the Golden Gate. It's bigger, and in the day has blue color that complements everything around it. It also has empty spaces in the floor for aerodynamics and sways back and forth. Many people cannot drive over it. I did and I loved it.

MACKINAC ISLAND, MICHIGAN

This is unique and American. I spent a week working on this island for Saks Fifth Avenue with Jane Seymour. There are no cars on the island, just horse and buggy and that's how we got around. We stayed at the Grand Hotel where Jane and Chris Reeves shot their most famous movie, Somewhere in Time. I have written a piece on this and it is available on one of my pages. Mackinac is pretty ideal.

Colleen and I thought Loving was going to be this great historic New Mexico town. It wasn't. Big let down. Just a strip of poverty and the local football team practicing in the backround. This is the actual London Bridge, and after a tough time in Phoenix I told Ryan I was moving to San Fran, packed my car and left. What remained at apartment 140 was a note with five bucks to go see Moholland Drive because above all else I thought he should. I roamed around California in my 88 Nugs and eventually after some time ended up in Arizona here, having coffee on this bridge giving a good thought to things. I had to go back to Phoenix.

You find this in the Lake Powell region. I have had a recurring dream where I am a bird or (spiritual) flying in above like I-MAX and everytime it is one of my most powerful dreams. This may be the only place in this section that I have not seen in reality. I may have briefly, stumbling around the area in disbelief. The only matter here is it is one of the strongest memories and images I have taken from the west.

Ryan has been to the Grand Canyon many times, and would say I have not. The complication is that the Southern Grand Canyon is where most everyone considers the beautiful formation, and I have not been. This picture is of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, something you come across and stop at going north towards Page. This is what I saw, and I thought it was great.

You drive through this town when you travel out west and down to Phoenix. I ended up spending one wonderful evening alone in this town poking around as a light soft snow fell. I have very warm feelings of this college town in the mountains.

I love this photograph because it is the view you see before and after you pull away on Interstate 10. It was how I first saw the city, and Ryan and I pulled off the road with our future in front of us. We lit a cigarette and looked out over the vast sea of desert lights. We were night riders moving west. There we found a pancake house and a local dance at a late hour. I have been back twice, but I will always remember this.

My family and I went to DC when I was 10. We saw all this sites, Lincoln, Reflecting Pond, Money Mint, and so on. Funny, but what I remember most about that trip is my mom and dad buying my brother Bart and I grape slurpies from 7-11 near our hotel outside DC in Virginia. That, and my mom crying when she saw the Vietnam War Memorial. The last time I was in DC Ryan and I were battling the great snow storm of 03' already mentioned further down this page.

Toronto is the best thing going north of Buffalo. I mean that. I went to my first full on rave party here when I was thirteen, and I saw the ORB and UNDERWORLD live. That kind of kickstarted a lot for me. Since then I have been to Toronto for many other parties, concerts, and goings on. You can have a good time just hanging out on Young and Queen Street. When I was younger my parents took me and my brother to the CNE for a Worl Fair. It is the first great place I have been outside the United States.
